A sovereign credential ring · by Bob

Linx

Just bump it.

the sovereign credentiaRing

How you greet someone decides what you share. A handshake hands over your work card; a fistbump, your gym chat; a pinky-link, your Snap. The gesture picks the tier, no app, no cloud, no one in the middle.

The whole idea, in three gestures

The greeting is the exchange

You never overshare, because the gesture and the time pick the tier for you.

The vocabulary, and it's yours to write

Every greeting is a key

The ring feels the difference: a jog, a jiggle and a judder are three different keys. Start with the classics; the rest, the world writes.

Remember the secret handshakes you discovered with your friends growing up? Yeah, neither do we 💀. Submit yours and jog our memory.

Three tiers, one idea

Start at Alpha. Live in Sigma. Grow to Omega.

Ship the cheap proof, build the real product, leave room to grow. The gesture engine lives in Sigma; health is a tier you reach for later, if ever.

Linx rings
Alpha, the proof

Passive

~$2-4 / unit · no battery
  • NFC tap → opens your self-hosted profile
  • Tier chosen in the app, by time of day
  • Zero battery, zero failure modes
  • Ships fast, validates the demand
The cheapest possible way to prove people want bump-to-share.
Sigma, the product

Active

~$13-20 / unit · rechargeable
  • Feels the gesture type: handshake vs fistbump vs pinky
  • Two rings confirm a mutual bump (BLE + motion sync)
  • On-device tier routing: pro / social / inner
  • Rides a proven commodity ring, no health sensors
The defensible product: gesture + context → the right credential.
Omega, later if ever

Platform

premium · health add-on
  • Everything in Sigma, plus a PPG optical sensor
  • HRV / resting HR / SpO₂ / sleep, on your finger
  • The data never leaves without your key
  • A tier we reach for only if Sigma earns it
Health is the upside, not the bet. Sigma stands on its own.
Inside Sigma · exploded view

Commodity silicon. Sovereign software.

Sigma is a ring that already exists for ~$13, plus the firmware only we write. The accelerometer is already on the board, so gesture sensing is a software play, not a hardware program. The PPG (05) belongs to Omega, later.

LINX · OMEGAEXPLODED ASSEMBLY · NTS REV 0.12026-05-24 01 · Silicone / resin shell 02 · NFC antenna coil (Alpha tap) 03 · BlueX RF03, BLE SoC + MCU 04 · STK8321 accelerometer 05 · PPG optical (Omega only) 06 · ~20 mAh LiPo 07 · skin-contact base
BlueX RF03
Cortex-M0+ BLE SoC, the radio + brains. Open and flashable (community firmware already exists). Runs our gesture classifier on-device.
STK8321
3-axis accelerometer, already on the commodity ring board. Feels the bump for ~$0.20, no new hardware.
PPG optical (Omega)
Same sensor class as Oura/Colmi: HR, HRV, SpO2, sleep. The premium tier, later.
NFC inlay
Passive tap layer; alone it is the Alpha ring. The one part stock rings don't ship, so it's our bespoke addition.
How it knows the gesture

Every greeting has a signature

No camera, no cloud, no guesswork. The accelerometer already on the ring reads the shape of the motion, and plain on-ring logic reads the difference. A fistbump and a handshake don't look alike to the silicon.

Sharp impact
Fistbump
a 2-3g spike, ~200ms,
then a quick decay
Rhythmic
Handshake
a 1-3 Hz oscillation
over about a second
The proof
Mutual bump
both rings spike within
~100ms, so a solo wave never fires

A ten-second calibration bump when you first pair learns your hand, so a featherweight and a linebacker both read clean. v1 nails the big three (bump, shake, pound) at ~85-90% with plain threshold logic: no machine learning, no gyroscope. It's the trick the Bump app proved in 2009 across 125 million downloads, except it happens ring-to-ring, and nothing ever leaves your finger.

Omega · the premium tier, later

It can become a health ring

Sigma doesn't need health to be worth wearing. But the same ring body can take a PPG optical sensor, and then Omega reads your body the way Oura does, except the data never leaves your finger without your key. On-device, open, no subscription, built only if Sigma earns it.

HRV
recovery / stress
RHR
resting heart rate
SpO₂
blood oxygen
Sleep
stages + movement
The principle everything else hangs on

The best relationship you can have with someone else's data is none at all.

Linx · open-source · your API only · zero cloud

Open source

The firmware and the app are auditable. No black box on your hand, fork it, read it, trust it.

Your API only

Identity is decentralized (Nostr / DIDs); your profile lives on a page you host. We run no server that holds you.

No cloud, no fee

Buy the ring once, pay nothing forever. Nothing to subscribe to, nothing to breach, nothing to shut down.

Them (Oura / Tapni / Popl)

~$6-20 / month

Your body + your contacts, escrowed on their servers. Cancel and it goes dark.

Linx

$0 / month

Your finger holds the only copy that matters. We literally can't sell what we never hold.

Who builds it

Bob × Harv

Bob

Supply chain · logistics · CFA

BOM sourcing, fab & assembly, landed cost & unit economics, the funding case. Turns the spec into a manufacturable, costed product.

Harv

Software · sovereign stack

Firmware, the gesture classifier, the app, the Nostr/DID identity layer, self-hosted profiles. The defensible part.

The ask

Build the Alpha batch

~$100
in parts · ~2 weeks · real rings in hand

The cheapest possible proof. Hand them out, watch people bump. If it lands, we build Sigma, the real product, with real numbers, and Bob's name is on the box.
